SEPTEMBER FAVOURITES + MAC ALTERNATIVES!

September favourites

Hello girls,
I am super late with my favourite products from last month, but I promise I have a good reason for it!
I really tried my best to find a dupe for at least one of the products I picked, but I just could not :-(
In my entire collection I couldn't find anything reasonably similar to be considered as a dupe :-(

Which in a way is great news for me, because it means that I got new new products, but on the other side it kind of sabotaged my "monthly favourites + dupe" tradition.

But not all of my efforts have been in vain, because while I can't give you dupes I will give you ALTERNATIVES!!

So let's get into it.

Mac Viva Glam Rihanna 2 lipstick and lipglass - love and obsession at first sight. So beautiful. So unique.
I'm going to get like 4 back-ups of each before they are discontinued after 6 months!
I didn't know, I found out in one of my friend Sarah's https://www.youtube.com/user/nytdollface videos :'-((((
If you want to know more and see swatches, I wrote an entire blogpost about them, so please go to Mac Viva Glam Rihanna 2 Lipstick and Lipglass

Mac Stone lip pencil - it changed my life. With its shadow-creating and contour-camouflaging magical powers, it broadened new horizons for my lip make up.

Mac Spite lipglass - your natural lips, but darker and glossier. In a word, perfection.

Mac Pink Cult blush - very pretty lavender pink. Being completely matte and such a cool shade, it might not appear as the most alive colour to some. But it sure comes to life when it's on our cheeks girls!! The only downside is that I don't see it as equally flattering on darker skintones.

Mac Taupe blush - the BEST shade for contouring light to medium complexions. No orange at all in it.
Shadows in real life fade into grey and black. That's why to create the most realistic shadows on our face - which is what we do with the contouring - we need a flesh-toned pink shade that is darkened and faded into grey, meaning a grey-ish brown a.k.a. our beloved Taupe colour.
Ok, now let's get over this and go back to bronzer for our daily make up game hahaha!! :-D

Mac Breaking Ground cream colour base - a grey lavender that, again, doesn't really send a chill down your spine when you look at in the pan, but it's incredibly beautiful on the eyes <3

Except for the Viva Glam lipstick and lipgloss, all the other products are part of the new Artificially Wild collection, so more pictures and swatches are here Mac Artificially Wild collection

Mac Stormy Pink paintpot, Mac Breaking Ground cream colour base, Mac Frozen Violet paintpot

And it's Breaking Ground the product I have found alternatives for, in case you missed out on it or in case your skin wasn't whale-oil-proof-kind-of-dry like mine.
Because on my eyelids Mac cream colour bases work like a dream, but I was thinking that on most other girls a paintpot would perform better.

So if you like Breaking Ground you could also try Stormy Pink paintpot (matte and a little more red-toned), or Frozen Violet paintpot (shimmery and a little darker), one of my all time favourite and most used product :-)

I hope you enjoyed this post!!
Thank you for reading ^_^

MAC ARTIFICIALLY WILD COLLECTION (FALL 2014)

Mac Artificially Wild collection

Hello girls,
here I will show you my make up look created with some products from the Mac Artificially Wild collection!!

This collection, oh I love it so much.
It's mostly cool toned muted shades that look sort of "huh?" when you first look at them.

But it's their being so undefinable, so unrestrictable to specific colour categories, and almost mysterious, that makes them so unique and gives such an amazing unexpected effect when you apply them on your face.

Mac Artificially Wild collection

The Mac artist who did my beautiful make up is endlessly talented Alberto from Milan.
I picked the products for him to use though ^_^

Alberto applied Breaking Ground cream colour base (iridescent grey-ish lilac) in the outer half of my lid and crease of my eye with a Mac 217 brush.
He intensified the outer corner with Shale eyeshadow (pretty much the powder version of Breaking ground) - from the permanent line and not part this collection - and smoked out my lower lashline.
He finished off my eyes with Mineralize mascara, again not part of this collection.

On my cheeks, using Mac 188 brush he applied Taupe blush (matte, medium taup-y brown) on the outer and lower part of my cheekbones in his signature swirling motion, and then Pink Cult blush (matte lavender pink) on the rest of my cheeks with the same motion.
Girls I'm telling you, we need to OWN his technique.

He contoured my lips with iconic Stone lip pencil (cool brown), and filled them in with Spite lipglass (cool plummy brown) - both part of this collection BUT permanent.

What else to say, I mean just look at these shades.
How barely distinguishable they are on my face but how strong of an overall effect they create.

And Stone, Stone is a lip pencil I never thought I could pull off.
But its peculiar shade of brown is meant not to give you brown lips, but to create a shadow around their contour, and give the illusion of fuller lips.

Same for Taupe blush. It's not to give you brown cheeks, but to create the illusion of more sunken cheeks, which by contrast will then make the cheekbones appear more prominent.

Literally, I feel that this make up session and this Mac collection might have changed my life.
I mean, don't you already feel different too after seeing these colours?
For real.

Pleeeeease let me know what you got from this collection, I need to know what products everybody else has got and how you wear them, please share friends!!! ^_^

And if you want to see Alberto in action again you can check out Plastic Cheekbones in Milan Wearing New Mac MSF!!

Lots of love

CLEANSE BY LAUREN NAPIER

Cleanse by Lauren Napier

Hello girls,
tonight I will tell you about the newest addition to my vanity and current night routine, Cleanse by Lauren Napier, luxury face wipes by celebrity make up artist Lauren Napier!!

Lauren Napier - picture from http://www.laurennapier.com/

I was lucky enough to get to know beautiful Lauren via social media.
When she learned that I am a flight attendant she offered to send me a package with her products, and even added a lovely note for me [cries like a Japanese manga]

Cleanse by Lauren Napier are individually wrapped face wipes and come in very luxurious looking sleek black sachets.
Being individually wrapped, they will not dry out.
And Lauren made them the perfect size to fit in our make up bag or the smallest of our handbags.

No joke, sometimes with the smallest of my evening clutches I have to choose between taking with me my phone or some cash, my lipgloss for touch ups or my car keys, hahaha does this happen to anybody else????

Ok, Lauren's sachets will NOT cause this problem. They won't take up any space.
You can have Cleanse by Lauren Napier with you, and still safely drive back home - or to whoever's house you're going to go to.
You can have Cleanse by Lauren Napier with you, and still be able to make phone calls and upload your #OutfitOfTheNight picture on Instagram.

Just one wipe will take all your make up off.
You know I'm not one to go nude with the eye make up, nor sheer with the bronzer (please feel free to check my Instagram @mjintheskywithglitter for proof), but just one of these wipes takes EVERYTHING off.
My 19 coats of mascara, gel eyeliner, even the bronzer on my ears - in case you are wondering why I would wear bronzer on my ears, well having ears of a different colour that look like they belong to another face would make me look even MORE insane, so I go for the lesser evil and bronze them up too -, so all of it, it all GOES.

Also, I have sensitive eyes, and with many make up removers I have had the issue that they either don't take the make up off or irritate my eyes.
Lauren's wipes take all my make up off while still being gentle on my eyes, and I'm very happy about it.

Cleanse by Lauren Napier

I was so instantly fascinated by Lauren and her career that I was curious to know more and I asked her a lot of questions :-)
She was so nice and happy to answer, so it resulted in a small interview to share with all of you :-)

I asked her:

Lauren where are you from and how did you start your career?
I was born in Las Vegas and raised in Texas. Both places have had a huge influence on my propensity for beauty.
I began working in the fashion and beauty industry, then transitioned into TV/Film in a matter of years.
I love creating luminous looks for my clients. I have had a very exciting career and am excited to watch it continue to flourish.
How did you come up with the idea to create Cleanse by Lauren Napier?
I was struck with the idea to create Cleanse by Lauren Napier while traveling from Australia to New York via Dubai.
I was on a flight and wished to cleanse my skin but my package of wipes was dried out. I thought I'd create something to cleanse the skin while on the go that was easier to carry and wouldn't dry out.

What is the concept behind your product?
Cleanse by Lauren Napier are chic, perfect for travel and they're an excellent solution to travel skincare.

What is the philosophy behind your product?
My philosophy is healthy beautiful skin!
I am a minimalist. In a culture obsessed with excess and perfection, I find beauty in informal moments. There is beauty in taking it off.

Ok, unfortunately I won't be able to use Lauren's wipes too often when I'm flying, because when I'm on a flight I'm generally on duty and it would be against my airline's grooming policy to take all my make up off hahaha!!! :-D
But I have incorporated them in my night routine, whether I am at home or in a hotel on a layover :-)

So thank you so much again Lauren, hopefully one day I can meet you, and I will take my make up off with your wipes but YOU will do my make up, okay??! ^_^

Friends I hope you enjoyed my post
xoxo

Love
MJ

METAL BLACK DAHLIAIN' IN MOSCOW

Metal Black Dahlia OCC Lip Tar

In my Autumn Tag post (here The Autumn Tag ) I said that berry lips are my favourite make up look for autumn.
So here I will show you my latest berry crush, which I first wore in Moscow recently, OCC Lip Tar in Metal Black Dahlia!!
OCC Lip Tar in Metal Black Dahlia

It is a stunning blackened berry shade with red shimmer. It is the same pigment as their iconic Black Dahlia lip tar, only with the added pearl to give it a metallic finish.

It is as opaque as only Lip Tars can be. Just a small dot of product on the back of your hand will be enough for your entire lips.
I applied it with the small brush that comes with it. Unlike some brushes or applicators that sometimes come with products, this one is actually a good little brush.
As you start applying it on your lips it might appear a little uneven or gritty, but the final result is just as flawless as it looks in the pictures!
It has a tendency to bleed, so I contoured my lips with Mac Burgundy lip pencil.

And once it's on, it's ON!! Again, it is as longlasting as only Lip Tars can be.
And when I removed it before going to bed it left a bright fuchsia stain, I looked like I was still wearing lipstick! :-D
So I guess it's not a product for the indecisive, I mean, once you decide to wear it you can't change your mind anymore haha!! ^_^

Moscow MOTD

The other make up products I was wearing are:

L'Oreal Lumi Magique (True Match Lumi) foundation in DW3 Gold Linen, applied with my Real Techniques stippling brush
Mac Pro Longwear concealer in NC30
Clinique Line Smoothing concealer in 02 Light
The black shade from Kiko Street Glam palette 01
Kiko Skinny Fit Kajal 06 (black)
Kiko False Lashes Concentrate Building Base mascara
L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara
my infamous fake eyelashes from Tokyo

and if any of you right now are thinking "Were all these lash products necessary? :-/" the answer is YES!!!!!!
hahaha you know me ^_^

Nars Orgasm blush
Nars Laguna bronzer

My dress was from H&M (H&M UK - H&M France - H&M Deutschland - H&M Italia - H&M Danmark - H&M Nederland - H&M Sverige), with a black cotton cardigan from H&M too on top.

I hope you enjoyed my post :)
